{"id":675,"date":"2014-06-27T13:24:27","date_gmt":"2014-06-27T13:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.lnetdev.uk\/thevra2026\/?p=675"},"modified":"2014-06-27T13:24:27","modified_gmt":"2014-06-27T13:24:27","slug":"keep-pace-change-tech-showcase-speaker-urges-audience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.lnetdev.uk\/thevra2026\/keep-pace-change-tech-showcase-speaker-urges-audience\/","title":{"rendered":"Keep pace with change, tech showcase speaker urges audience"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"text_image\">\n<p><strong>By 2050 the number of cars worldwide will have risen from 1.2bn to 2.6bn, yet in developed regions such as Europe and the USA car usage is already in decline.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Personal mobility is changing and the motor industry must explore what changes it needs to make in response to the wants of future consumers.<\/p>\n<p>That was a message from futurologist Josef Hargrave of Arup\u2019s foresight, research and innovation team at this week\u2019s Vehicle Remarketing Association technology showcase.<\/p>\n<p>Hargrave said carmakers sell to customers the ideal drive of the open road, but in reality the motorist\u2019s experience is nowhere near that ideal they\u2019re being sold.<\/p>\n<p>Congestion and pollution is driving major cities such as Madrid and San Francisco to take action, reclaiming green space from roads.
