Often kept for many years, the practicality of the microvan was a big advantage and allowed the driver to access the tightest of spots.”

“With limited numbers sold in the UK, you will need to search long and hard before to find a nice example, with many overworked ones only fit for the scrap heap. However, a straight, low mileage Porter will command plenty of attention and strong residual values on the open market.

Andy did point out that owning a microvan would return you with a pretty basic specification and due to its design, a fly by the seat of your pants kind of ride.

“Official parts can be difficult to come by, especially for early plate examples. Nevertheless, if you want a small economical van with a large payload, look no further.”

USED VAN HERO: Piaggio Porter Petrol

WHY?

Compact and economical van with a big payload.

WHEN WAS IT ON SALE?

Launched under licence from Daihatsu in 1992, the original ‘Innocenti Porter’ was based on the seventh generation Hijet microvan and was available with petrol, diesel, LPG, CNG and electric powertrains.

WHAT’S GOOD?

Great turning circle. Could carry payloads of up to 500kg. Easy to park.

WHAT’S BAD?

A Spartan cab, mediocre ride and handling and an uncomfortable feeling that due to the forward control layout of the Porter, there was precious little between you and a world of pain should you hit the vehicle in front.

Check for corrosion around the fuel pipes where they meet the fuel tank. In addition, higher mileage examples may need the rocker cover gasket replacing and possibly the metal water hose that runs across the top of the engine.

IDEAL BUY?

Porter Petrol EU5 1.3cc Van on a 1463 plate with 25,000m – Glass Trade £3,425 + vat Glass Retail £4,475 + vat

For those who want to shift a big load The Read More…

[41
59,458,141
post-4337","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-vra-member-press-release","tag-glasss","tag-piaggio","tag-used-vans
["GET
