A new white paper from the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA) is designed to \u201cbust\u201d 10 of the most common myths surrounding used electric vehicles (EVs).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Called \u201cEV Misconceptions\u201d, it has been authored by battery electrochemist Euan McTurk, creator of Plug Life Television, a YouTube channel about EVs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
It covers topics including range, battery degradation, charging, running costs, pollution, insurance \u2013 and even the accusation that EVs catch fire more easily.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Philip Nothard, VRA chair, said: \u201cEveryone working in remarketing knows that EVs attract a lot of misinformation, much of it largely inaccurate. Our aim with the new white paper is to create a document that gives people working in the used car and van sector the facts they need to reassure potential customers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cIt\u2019s designed to be distributed throughout organisations and especially to sales and marketing teams, who are dealing with these types of objections to EVs from potential buyers on a daily basis. If everyone in our sector is going to make a success of electrification, we need to bust these myths.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The white paper is the fifth to be created by the VRA on EVs in the last year, with earlier instalments covering Electric Vehicle Charging; Electric Vehicle Battery Health; Understanding Electric Vehicle Efficiency, Charging Costs and Charging Infrastructure and The Future of EV Technology.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Philip said: \u201cWe now have a small library of white papers covering a whole range of EV topics written by Euan which have been very well received across our membership and the wider remarketing sector. Certainly, I have learnt a lot from reading them and I expect that others in the used vehicle sector have benefitted in a similar manner. This type of activity very much fits with the VRA\u2019s remit.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
